Sega has announced that New Game Plus and a new difficulty setting will be added to Yakuza: Like a Dragon, the seventh Yakuza instalment that is currently awaiting a Western release. However, according to the announcement, it seems that the New Game Plus DLC will be a paid-for expansion rather than a free DLC, unlike the content that has been released so far.
According to the translation by Gematsu, Sega's announcement revealed the "Additional Challenge Expansion Pack" which will add a higher difficulty mode only available in a second playthrough, as well as New Game Plus which will presumably carry over some elements of player progress from an initial run.
We don't know many details about the planned DLC, and we're still waiting on a release date for the game itself in the West – still pencilled in with a generic "2020" release date. The game has reviewed well in Japan so far, with Famitsu giving the game a very respectable 38/40.
We will share more details on Yakuza: Like a Dragon, its Western release and its potential paid DLC model, as soon as we learn more.
